Routine inspections of air conditioning, heating, and furnaces are necessary in order to ensure that the equipment is operating at peak efficiency. While often overlooked by most home owners until the equipment breaks down (resulting in an extremely expensive repair bill), there are quite a few businesses which can not afford to overlook these requirements. Some businesses could even be sued and held responsible for damages and injuries, especially if negligence has been a factor.

Routine maintenance and equipment inspections are a must, especially with regards to nursing homes, schools, medical facilities, and restaurants. If any refrigeration or air conditioning systems fail for any reason, an individuals’ health and well being can be seriously compromised. Office buildings, day care facilities, nursing homes, apartments/rental properties and even home sales are all contingent on heating and air conditioning certifications. No one would want to think of renting a property in Minnesota without assurance that the heat will work properly and safely in December. Parents would not want children attending day care facilities without adequate heat, nor would anyone want to think of a loved one in an assisted living complex without heat.

The answer is to have a competent and experienced heating specialist inspect the HVAC system and perform preventive maintenance to ensure proper and safe functioning of the equipment. It is important to ask what qualifications the technician inspecting the equipment holds. Many experts are usually licensed journeymen or master heating installers, both of which require years of experience.

Keeping up with the requirements for a current business and having proper inspections is a must. Buildings that do not adhere to the proper codes may be fined or even shut down completely. Many districts and municipalities have guidelines for buildings and businesses which must be adhered to in order to remain operational. All major cites, wherever the location, have these standards. Especially in northern regions where the climate is harsh in the winter or southern regions where its hot in the summer, these certifications are required not only for safety, but for comfort.
